Stages of Advocacy?

When you first meet with your advocate you will advise your advocate of what issue/s you wish to address.

Your advocate will advise you of any relevant systems such as a complaints procedure, referral process or outline any relevant legislation.

You shall then hopefully be in a position to instruct your advocate on how you wish then to represent your issue.

Your advocate will feed back to you on how your issue is being addressed. Your advocate and you shall review how this issue is being handled by any relevant third party.

If you are due to present yourself at a meeting then you advocate will prepare you for this and you will decide with your advocate who is to speak on what subjects. Alternatively you may do this in writing if it is deemed more appropriate or comfortable for you. Your advocate can do this on your behalf if you inform them of what you wish them to cover.

Your advocate will evaluate the end result with you and can restart the process again if your feel the need to. Hopefully this won’t be necessary!
