**Announcement** - Getting together for a very BIG Lunch - The Mayor is set to play a key role in uniting the communities of Warrington by hosting his very own Big Lunch, as part of a nationwide campaign to draw local people closer. Plans are underway for the day to take place in Walton Hall Gardens, Warrington from noon to 4pm on Sunday July 18, with similar events happening throughout the county and beyond. **Announcement** - The Challenge of a Lifetime – Anita Morris is celebrating her 50th birthday this year and is undertaking the biggest challenge of her life to raise £50,000 in 12 months in support of a number of charities close to her heart including Warrington Grassroots but if that isn’t enough, Anita is embarking on a number of extreme challenges to help her from the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, Snowdonia, English Half Marathon and even the Inca Trail in Peru. **Announcement**-WALSH PEDALS HIS WAY TO NEARLY £13,000 FOR WARRINGTON Jonathan Walsh, managing director of MEPC Birchwood Park, raised nearly £13,000 for the Birchwood area of Warrington last weekend (30th April – 4th May 2010) in a 500km sponsored cycle from London to Paris, after an MEPC Birchwood Park occupier committed to double the money pledged to the Birchwood Endowment Fund. **Announcement**-Leading Health & Safety Company take on fundraising challenge - Leading specialist provider of Health & Safety Training, CSTS took on the risky challenge of abseiling down the 50ft Mersey Tunnel Ventilation Shaft to raise money for Warrington Grassroots. **Announcement** - TEST YOUR SKILLS at Charity Poker Night Event to celebrate 1st Anniversary of Handelsbanken to be held in aid of Warrington Grassroots February 2010 – To celebrate the first anniversary of Handelsbanken’s establishment of their Branch in Warrington this Spring, Handelsbanken have joined forces with Warrington Grassroots to host a Charity Poker Night. The event will take place on Thursday 11th March 2010 at Warrington Sports Club with a guaranteed game of Texas Hold Em’ Poker along with the chance to win some great prizes. **Announcement** - 60th Grassroots Grant goes to Birchwood Partnership - £2000 was awarded to Birchwood Partnership making it the 60th grant recipient of Warrington’s Grassroots Grant scheme. Since launching in September, Grassroots Grants in Warrington has given over £80,000 in grants to small, local community and voluntary groups, supporting them to meet the particular challenges they see in their local community. *Announcement* - April 2009 – Help Us to Help You – Remember Gift Aid - As a new budget is announced, a recent study by the Charities Aid Foundation found that one third of the public do not know about Gift Aid which allows charities to claim an additional income from the government when it receives a donation from a UK taxpayer.
