02 - Its Your Community Funding
It's Your Community Programme aims to enable people to make real improvements to where they live. Grants are available to support local environmental, urban renewal and conservation projects and funding is available for both groups and individuals. The grant scheme will be changing it’s focus to young people in January 2010.
Applications will be accepted until the end of December 2009 for community projects. Awards of between £100 and £1,000 are available.
Awards may be used to hire tools and equipment, or to purchase plants, paint, signs and materials. Projects must benefit the local community's environment or build community spirit.
The following are examples of eligible projects: • Rebuild and Restore - cleaning and painting a bus shelter, restoring a sports pavilion's leaking plumbing, and fitting insulation to a local hall. • Active - funding for equipment for local clubs from football to cycling, • Green and Clean - setting up and supporting community gardens, woodlands, beaches and paths, and improving public access to river banks and green spaces. Computers for Rural People Scheme (UK)
Individuals clubs and organisations, etc, in rural areas that need access to information and services, are able to purchase fully functioning ex-government computers for as little as £99. The computers are being made available through the Arthur Rank Centre. This is a collaborative unit supported by the National Churches, the Royal Agricultural Society of England and the Rank Foundation. For organisations that need more than one computer; e.g. for a Drop-in centre, School etc. the prices are even lower. www.arthurrankcentre.org.uk
CommunityBuilders
Community Matters are part of the partnership delivering the new £70m Communitybuilders fund. The fund is aimed at community anchor organisations that are looking for capital investments to improve or expand their services.

The Equitable Charitable Trust
The Equitable Charitable Trust is an education charity. It makes grants of around £1 million each year towards projects for children and young people under the age of 25 who are from disadvantaged backgrounds or disabled.
Grants made by the Trust fall into three broad categories:
education projects or services that support the learning and development of disabled children and young people in the UK; education projects for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK, particularly those that support delivery of the National Curriculum or vocational learning opportunities; education projects that will help increase participation in, or improve the quality of, education for disadvantaged or disabled children and young people in developing countries.
Eligibility – Local or Regional community groups, charities and non-profit making organisations
Grant Size – Between £2,500 to £30,000

Awards for All

It has just been announced that Awards for All’s new programme is now open for application. The new programme aims to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.
The programme is linked to four our aims, and Awards for All want to fund projects that meet one or more of the following outcomes:
· People have better chances in life with better access to training and development to improve their life skills.
· Stronger communities with more active citizens working together to tackle their problems.
· Improved rural and urban environments – which communities are better able to access and enjoy.
· Healthier and more active people and communities.
IMPORTANT – Awards for All have removed the regional priorities , and so projects need only to meet one or more of the aims above.
Eligibility – Voluntary or community organisations, schools, parish or town
councils, or a health bodies
Grant Size – Between £300 and £10,000
Deadlines – Any time but your project must be planned to begin minimum of 3 months before you submit your application.

GRANTnet is a straightforward free to use service from GRANTfinder, which can help you to identify suitable funding for your activity or project. It allows community and voluntary groups, sports and other clubs, schools, social enterprises and small businesses to search across a huge range of funding sources.
Warrington Grassroots Grants
A new small grants fund which began in September 2008.
If your group has an income of £30k or less a year then you can apply for up to £5k over 3 years.

The Green Machine
Community groups in Warrington can apply for funding to run environmental projects during winter and spring through Community Foundation for Merseyside’s Green Machine Fund.

The Morgan Foundation
The Morgan Foundation supports charities across North Wales, Merseyside, West Cheshire and North Shropshire.
With a grant programme of over £1 million per year, funds are targeted where they can be most effective in making a real difference to the lives of the people in this region. The Morgan Foundation specialises in supporting small to medium sized locally based organisations whose work focuses on children, families, disadvantage and disability.
Any work which has a positive effect on the welfare and quality of life, or which enhances the opportunities and life choices for people in this region will be considered.

WREN Small Grant Scheme
WREN is pleased to announce the launch of its new small grant scheme. The scheme has been designed for projects with a total cost of under £50,000 and grants can be awarded between £2,000 and £15,000. Typical projects suitable under the WREN small grant scheme might include village halls or community centres, skates parks and play areas, footpaths or towpaths, cycleways or museums. Funding for Small Scale Regeneration Projects (UK)
Local community groups, community enterprises and registered charities that address social and economic deprivation within specific geographic areas such as a housing estate, neighbourhood or village may be eligible to apply for grants of up to £5,000 through Comic Relief’s Disadvantaged Communities programme. The focus of the programme is on small scale local projects which were started by local residents who came together to try to make their community better. This programme does not support work over a larger area, for example, city-wide initiatives or across a whole town. To be eligible applicants need to have a turnover of less than £150,000. Applications can be made at any time.
